Altys Terms of Service

Welcome to Altys, an AI tutoring platform provided by Great AI LLC ("we," "us," or "our"). By accessing or using our mobile application or website (the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the Service.

1. Eligibility and Parental Consent

Altys is designed for users in the United States. Access is restricted based on age:

  • Under 13 ("Child"): You must have Verifiable Parental Consent (VPC) obtained through an affiliated parent account (App Store) or a verified $0.99 credit card transaction.
  • 13–17 ("Teenagers"): You must have parental permission to download and use the Service. In Texas, explicit consent is required for every download and in-app purchase.
  • Adults (18+): You may use the Service upon standard account verification.

Parental Responsibility: Parents or guardians who provide consent are responsible for the minor's activity on the platform. We will not enforce contracts or purchase obligations against minors if consent was not properly obtained.

2. The Nature of AI (The "Stochastic Disclosure")

Altys utilizes generative AI models provided by partners like OpenAI, Gemini and Cartesia.

  • Probabilistic Output: You acknowledge that AI responses are probabilistic and non-deterministic. The AI does not "know" facts; it predicts responses based on patterns.
  • Hallucinations: The AI may occasionally provide incorrect, biased, or "hallucinated" information. It is your responsibility to verify critical information (e.g., math formulas, historical dates) against authoritative sources like textbooks or teachers.
  • No Guarantees: Altys is a study aid. Use of the Service does not guarantee specific grades, exam scores, or college admissions.

3. Socratic Learning & Academic Integrity

Altys is a tool for thinking, not cheating.

  • Socratic Method: Our AI is designed to guide the user through "thinking steps" rather than simply providing final answers.
  • Authorized Use: You agree to use Altys in compliance with your school or institution's academic integrity policies. We are not liable for any disciplinary actions resulting from the misuse of the Service.

4. Prohibited Conduct (Adversarial AI Rules)

To maintain a safe environment, the following "Adversarial AI" activities are strictly prohibited and will result in Immediate Termination and potential Legal Action: Prompt Injection, which is attempting to override system instructions or safety filters with malicious inputs; Jailbreaking, which involves using roleplay to bypass ethical guardrails or safety filters; Data Poisoning, defined as attempting to feed corrupted data to influence model behavior; and Scraping, which is using automated systems to extract proprietary educational content.

5. Intellectual Property

  • Your Inputs: You retain ownership of the prompts and data you provide to Altys.
  • AI Outputs: Great AI LLC grants you a personal, non-exclusive license to use AI-generated responses for your individual educational purposes. You do not own the underlying model weights or have rights for commercial redistribution.
  • Training Opt-Out: In accordance with our Privacy Policy, your data is not used to train our general third-party AI models.

6. Subscriptions and Payments

  • Fees: Access to the "Altys Pro" tier requires a subscription. All fees are disclosed at the point of purchase.
  • Refund Policy: All purchases are final. No refunds are provided for monthly fees or tokens, except as required by state law.

7. Significant Changes & Notifications

We will notify you and obtain new parental consent before implementing any "Significant Change", including changes to our AI model providers, data collection categories, or app age ratings.

8. Crisis Intervention

If you prompt the AI regarding self-harm or a mental health crisis, Altys may provide contact information for the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline and encourage you to speak with a trusted adult.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Great AI LLC is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages (including loss of academic credit) arising from your use of the Service or reliance on AI-generated content.
